This club will delve into a different Classic Novel twice a year. Club members participate in a variety of comprehension activities, author studies and vocabulary studies and a field trip related to the novel. Each student receives their own personal copy of the novel we are reading along with an activity workbook. Classic Novel Book Club meets on Thursdays after school from 2:15pm-3:15pm. This club is open to students in grades 2-5 on a first come first serve.
The Debate club is an amazing opportunity for 4th and 5th grade students to showcase their public speaking, research skills, and creativity. Debate club students can choose between Congressional Debate, Interpretation, or Duo Interpretation as their focus for each meeting up until the day of the competition. The debate club will go to four competitions at local high schools and one championship tournament throughout the school year. Meetings are usually held every Thursday from 2:15pm – 3:05pm. As the nation’s newest student recognition program, National Elementary Honor Society joins the National Junior Honor Society and National Honor Society, the nation’s two oldest and largest student recognition programs, in creating a continuum of excellence being established throughout the Elementary, Middle, and high school education community. Pasadena Lakes Elementary School is one of the few elementary schools in Broward County that is a member of the prestigious National Elementary Honor Society.
Student criteria:
1. Scholarship: A NEHS member must make an A or A/B honor roll for three consecutive quarters in order to continue his/her membership.
2. Leadership: A NEHS member must show initiative and be willing to take on additional responsibilities in the classroom, school, as well as in the community.
3. Service: A NEHS member must have a heart for helping others and be willing to participate in community outreach projects.
4. Character: A NEHS member must show outstanding behavior and attend NEHS meetings regularly.

Students are selected from Grades 4 & 5 to participate in the Photography Yearbook & Journalism Club, at the beginning of each school year, through an essay contest.
These students, under the direction of our Technology Support Specialist at Pasadena Lakes, will learn how to use the camera to take photos to be used in the Yearbook as well as contribute written articles to be used in our Parent Newsletter, The Panther Scoop.
All participants will attend a monthly mandatory meeting at which time they are given their photo & journalism assignments and/or tasks for the month.
The Photography Yearbook & Journalism Club begins in September and ends in April.

Pasadena Lakes Robotics Club is sponsored by Ms. Organo and consists of 4th and 5th-grade students. The Robotics Club meets on Thursday afternoons from 2:15-3:05. The hands-on experience of learning to design, build, and program robots of increasing complexity boosts teamwork and problem-solving abilities while helping kids learn how abstract concepts, like mathematics, engineering, and computing work. In order to participate in the Robotics Club, students must be able to work cooperatively in small groups as it is a team-oriented competitive club and attend all practice sessions and participate in Robotics competitions and events, including the CS Inclusion Showcase, to celebrate their success at the end of the school year.
The S.A.V.E. (Students Against Violence Everywhere) Promise Club is an opportunity for our students to show their leadership, creativity, and passion for protecting their friends, schools, and communities from violence BEFORE it happens. In every school and community nationwide, there are young people who suffer silently because they feel left out, alone, or invisible. Those who are isolated can become victims of bullying, violence, and/or depression.
Our cause: To support and guide learners to impact their learning communities to be friendlier, safer, and kinder. This can be achieved with intention, purposefully building relational connections from the inside out.
Our SAVE Promise Club meets once a month and creates events to make our school a safer and kinder learning environment.
The safety patrols are a special group of students that have been selected because of the exemplary behavior and leadership skills that they have displayed during their attendance at Pasadena Lakes Elementary. Their duties include the following:
Report to duty by 7:40 a.m. with their safety patrol belt on.
Encourage students to follow school rules at all times.
Monitor the students as they sit in their grade level hallways in the morning.
Report to the advisor, administrator, or another staff member when needing assistance.

The Student Council is a student organization dedicated to the school and the community. We assist with special school-wide events and activities throughout the school year. Student Council members will be working together to learn skills associated with respect for all, leadership, decision-making, cooperation, and effective communication. Our main goal is to build a partnership between the school and the community through service.
Pasadena Lakes Elementary Student Council Class Representatives are chosen by their peers in their individual classrooms. This school year, two representatives were chosen from 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade classrooms. The representatives are then given an opportunity to campaign for the officer positions on the Student Council, such as president, vice president, secretary, and treasurer. All officers are elected by all students during the beginning of the school year. Student Council representatives and officers lead and organize school-wide fundraisers as well as numerous philanthropic endeavors.
Pasadena Lakes Elementary 5th grade students have the opportunity to join the WPLE News Crew! Interested 5th grade students must submit an application and an essay about ideas on responsibility, punctuality, honesty, teamwork as well as being a positive role model. Students learn basic video production skills with our state-of-the-art studio equipment. Students must arrive at 7:45 AM. This club is a full year commitment.
